Between the 13th and 20th December Lama Jampa was in residence at the Dechen Buddhist temple in Manchester (Kagyu Ling). During that time he gave teachings to a large gathering of people from across the UK, as well as private interviews to many students of dharma.
The weekend gave sufficient time for Lama Jampa to complete his series of teachings on Situ Dharmakara’s commentary on the Mahamudra Aspiration Prayer composed by the 3rd Karmapa, Rangjung Dorje. This wonderful prayer, with the supporting commentary, is a classical work of the Kagyu tradition’s mahamudra approach to view, meditation and action drawing upon the teaching of the Buddha, Indian Mahasiddhas and early Tibetan masters.
Lama Jampa pointed out the connection between the lineage of the Kagyu ngondro which many people have completed or are currently doing, and the line of transmission of the Kagyu Mahamudra, noting that even at this early phase of dharma practice we are connecting to this line of profound instructions and meditation.
The weekend concluded with the bestowal of Shakyashribhadra’s initiation of White Tara, through whose practice one may achieve the spiritual accomplishments of long life, in order to work for the benefit of others.
In the days following the teachings Lama Jampa kindly gave interviews to over 50 people, guiding them in their practice, and helping them transform worldly motivations and activities into the path.
